STMicroelectronics Innovates Low-Dropout Regulators with Small Packages and High Performance
ST's STLQ020 low-dropout (LDO) regulator can alleviate the trade-off between quiescent current, output power, dynamic response, and package size, giving designers more freedom to design.
The small size, high performance, and energy efficiency of the STLQ020 are ideal for battery-powered consumer electronics, such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches, audio or media devices, and wearables. In addition, STLQ020 helps extend battery life in IoT endpoint devices such as smart meters and wireless sensors, medical devices such as wearable monitoring devices, and industrial applications such as industrial automation or sensor networks.
STLQ020 has a quiescent current (Iq) of only 300nA, a maximum output current of 200mA, and excellent parameters such as voltage adjustment, power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), and transient response. The package uses a compact flip chip 4 of 0.8mm x 0.8mm.
STLQ020's unrivaled combination of features stems from its dedicated low-power design and adaptive bias circuit, which guarantees fast response and stable output with high PSRR. In addition, at the maximum load, the voltage is reduced to 160mV (typical), which can extend the device operating time during battery discharge. In addition, the STLQ020 provides a logic-controlled shutdown mode with a power consumption of only 5nA. In low-duty-cycle applications (such as remote sensors), the interval for changing the button battery can be extended.
The input voltage range of STLQ020 is 2.0V-5.5V, and the power supply can directly use the appropriate battery voltage (VBAT) or logic voltage rail. The output voltage can be set between 0.8V and 4.5V, divided into two types of fixed and adjustable output voltage. For fixed output voltage products, the voltage changes by 50mV per step.
The STLQ020 will be in production today, and it is available in 2mm x 2mm DFN6, 0.8mm x 0.8mm flip-chip 4, and 2.1mm x 2.0mm SOT323-5L packages.
The high-performance quad LDO regulator evaluation board (STEVAL-LDO001V1) is equipped with one STLQ020 and three other low-dropout (LDO) regulators, and it costs $ 9.68.
